2.22.0 Release

Impermeable membranes

In version 2.22 we have focused on strengthening our functionality for impermeable properties.

See the information from our webinar on closed, flexible structures for information, validation, and papers.

Update skip dialog

From 2.22 updates can be easily skipped by the user, without being remineded at every AquaEdit and AquaView launch. To update to a skipped version, please use Help -> Check for update or the updated reminder in the top right of AquaEdit.

Changelog 2.22

Solver:

  • Adjustments have been made to parameters related to impermeable nets
    • Definitions and adjustments of introduction of added mass, hydrodynamic damping, flexible tarp damping and factors for this (#2087)
    • Modification of factors for inner water mass (#2103)
    • Smoother in and out of water handling for drag loads and wave loads, impermeable systems that most often give better convergence (#2108)
    • Larger consistency also for 3-noded elements (#2085, #2082)
    • Possibility to include negative added mass and hydrodynamic damping (#2093)
    • Improvements of consistent mass matrix (added mass indicator)
  • Related adjustments have also been introduced to “Morison freeplate”
  • Adjustments made to Stokes waves to get them introduced to the analysis (#1964)
  • More options for winches, time varying velocity and stop if load gets above target (#2053)
  • The first wave is not applied linear anymore, but according to a polynomial meaning velocities and accelerations will be more smooth / continuous (#2108)
  • Possibility to introduce added mass in the longitudinal direction also for truss elements (#2110)
  • Slight modification of mass / added mass for the net itself for all membranes (#2083)
  • Adjustments to include the effect of added weight of nets if above waterline also for regular nets
  • Added writeouts to text files, reaction forces, hydrodynamic forces, beam and truss element forces
  • Improvements for NLD-table for anisotropic behaviour (#2106)
  • Membrane panel are is calculated also in dynamic steps (#2165)

AquaEdit:

  • Winches can now have a RAO to vary the speed
  • Renamed “tangential drag” to “drag x” (#2110)
  • Split Added mass and Drag loads on trusses
  • Added added mass coefficient for x direction (longitudinal) (#2110)
  • Pretension table for trusses can now be pasted into
  • Added negative mass choices for membranes (#2093)
  • The target X0 and Y0, and COSN used during generation for waves now visible in plot seastate (#2089)
  • Added option to enable Energy method (advanced) when exporting (#1803)
  • Stokes waves can now be chosen for environments
  • Quad to triangle options have had the split axis swapped (AC <-> BD) to align with normal nomenclature
  • Fixed undo error on rollers (#2151)
  • AquaCross will now alert the user to save or cancel when closing the beam dialog (#2084)
  • Added option to setting a custom low e-modulus warning range (#1815)
  • Installer, AquaEdit, AquaView, and other programs are now signed (#900)

AquaView:

  • Changed water surface visualization to match new wave interpolation
  • The version the file was analysed with now shows in the bottom right corner
  • The colour of the stress values can now be set by user
  • Improved how “Information on springs” are loaded

Other:

  • ppreduce can now list all stresses in a file using -list
    • This replaces the (outdated) list of stresses in the Other user manual

System integrator notes

The AquaSim package is now fully signed, please whitelist the Aquastructures AS autentisign

Due to issues installing supporting files (demoes, example library, and shapes) AquaEdit will on first start-up after a new version re-install these directories to the users home\documents\aquasim folder. This solves problems with documents folder on OneDrive, or when the installation is done as a different user (admin accounts or SYSTEM accounts). The source zip file will be installed to c:\programdata\aquasim\ . In the future, these will probably be moved to %appdata% instead of the users home.
