AquaView new interaction model

The most notable change is that rotation is no longer bound to the center of the model (0, 0, 0). Left-clicking an element will set the center of that element as the rotation pivot, and the view will rotate around that selected element. The selected element will be highlighted with two green circles on either end.

Assign AquaView more memory

One of the most common errors when opening AVZ files is memory requirements. The easiest way to resolve this is to reinstall the application package and assign more memory to AquaView.

Docking panels in AquaEdit (#1075)

In AquaSim release 2.16.3 a new inteface was introduced that allows for docking panels.

High-DPI support

Icons and/or text is displayed too small in AquaEdit/AquaView specifically on high resolution screens with Display Scale at a higher value than 100%.

Installation files and locations

This information is mostly for system administrators who wish to know more about the installation of the AquaSim package.

Membrane X and triangular elements

With the introduction of AquaSim 2.17.2 the handling of membranes was further improved upon. This has meant that tricks to create triangular elements with 4 noded membrane elements (which up until recently was the only way to model membranes) are no longer valid.

Memory allocation implications

When installing the AquaSim package and selecting Custom allocation the amount of memory a program can maximally allocate can be customized.

Missing default materials in AquaEdit

Default materials are missing in Beam data wizards.

Missing redistributables

AquaSim failes to run from AquaEdit with the message “AquaSim failed to start due to missing libraries”

Solitary waves

Q: Is it possible to model solitary waves in AquaSim? A: For the current version of AquaSim, modelling of solitary waves is not implemented.

Solver failed to download

AquaEdit failed to download solver automatically, or solver needs to be installed on a computer without AquaEdit installed.

AquaEdit cannot locate solver

On some systems (especially systems where corporate polices are in use) the AquaSim solver may fail to update the system path.

TPE file format

In order to facilitate easy import og geometry generated or otherwise obtained from other programs, scripts, or manual modelling, AquaEdit can also import a file format called .TPE or Point-To-Point files.

Text and/or windows are scaled wrongly

Text is either too large or too small in the User Interface and does not fit their buttons or menus.
